The front view of the same display.  Early during Ellis Island's history, an immigrant applying for entry into the United States was required to have at least $25 with them upon arrival.

From 1892 to 1954, over 12 million immigrants passed through the Great Hall.  During the peak month of April, 1902, over 11,000 applicants a day were processed through Ellis Island.
